What file formats are supported?
CSV, XLSX, and XLS files. You can pick the specific sheet and header row during upload.
Do I need a Shopify store to use Portaim?
No. You can use Portaim to clean and validate your product data, then download a Shopify-ready CSV. Connecting your Shopify store for direct export is optional.
How does AI column mapping work?
When you upload a file, Portaim analyzes your column headers and sample data, then suggests which Shopify field each column maps to. Common columns (like 'title', 'price', 'sku') are matched automatically. Less obvious ones get AI-powered suggestions that you can accept, adjust, or skip.
What validation rules are checked?
Portaim runs 40+ Shopify-specific rules covering required fields, allowed values (e.g. product status must be active/draft/archived), format checks (prices, weights, URLs), length limits, and cross-field consistency. Each issue shows the exact cell, what's wrong, and how to fix it.
How do I connect my Shopify store?
Go to Settings in the app, enter your store's .myshopify.com domain, and click Connect. You'll be redirected to Shopify to authorize access. Portaim requests only the permissions needed to create and update products.
What happens if an export to Shopify fails?
Portaim shows you exactly which products failed and why (e.g. duplicate handle, missing required field on Shopify's side). You can fix the issues and re-export. Successfully exported products are not affected.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Files are stored in secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) with time-limited presigned URLs. Shopify tokens are encrypted with AES-256. Your data is never shared with third parties or used for training. See our privacy policy for details.
Can I reuse mappings for the same supplier?
Yes. Save your column mappings as a supplier template. Next time you import from the same supplier, Portaim applies the template automatically — no remapping needed.
What are the beta limits?
10 imports per month, 1,500 rows per month, and up to 10,000 rows per file. These limits will be adjusted at full launch.
What does it cost after beta?
$29 per month, cancel anytime through Shopify's standard billing. Early beta users get 3 months free when the paid plan launches.
How do I cancel or delete my account?
You can delete your account from the Settings page in the app, or contact us at contact@portaim.com. If you have an active Shopify subscription, cancel it first from Settings. All your data is deleted within 30 days.
